Animals in Syria are suffering exactly like humans, but with having no assistance or voice to express their pain. They are facing many troubles the most important of which are :
1- HOMELESSNESS : There are uncountable numbers of stray animals who live in the streets of Syria. In every step you walk you run across tens and hundreds of stray cats and dogs who have no homes to live in. They are just facing the misery of life of homelessness.
2- THE WAR RISK : So many animals are exposed to the bombs and missiles which fall down on the streets in war zones, therefore they get severe injuries in their bodies or permanent disabilities, and some of them are buried under the rubble.
3- BEING ABUSED BY THE STREET KIDS : It's a very known problem in Arabic countries where there's a lack of awareness & education. Everyday we have two or three hard cases of animals have being abused by the street kids.
4- HUNGER & THIRST : So that they are forced to search for food in the trash that they may not find.
5- THE RISK OF POISONING : Due to the huge numbers of stray animals, the Syrian government resorts to get rid of them by shooting or poisoning in response to the complaints of citizens. Unfortunately, some of them are shot but not dead.
6- ANIMALS WHO ARE SUFFERING IN ANIMAL SHOPS : Shops in Syria are not qualified to insure the good caring for the caged animals. Animals dealers put them together inside dirty & small cages, and let them without enough food or water, so that some animals die inside their cages.
7- ABANDONMENT : Many Syrians who have pets are leaving Syria to escape war, and they neglect their animals and throw them in the streets before travelling.
We are here, a Syrian team from Damascus City committed to rescuing animals in need. Our activities include : Rescuing and treating injured and abandoned animals, arranging feeding campaigns, educating campaigns, and neutering campaigns to limit the multiplying numbers of stray animals.
